Over the years, we've been proud to offer the opportunity to volunteer with deviantART. We believe that our volunteers play a crucial role in helping our community develop and grow in positive ways.
The Gallery Moderator (previously known as Gallery Director) and Message Network Admin (MN@) teams have become a much loved and appreciated role, with many volunteers proudly detailing their experience in applications to enter into successful careers with companies who all recognise the value of volunteering in such a vibrant and eclectic community. First off, could you give us a brief introduction of yourself?
Hi there, I’m Lauren

I’m 16 years old and into my sophomore year in my high school. I spend my time at home during the weekends (or all day during the summer) and in school. When I am not in school, I am spending at least 20+ hours a week playing in the marching band (which, technically, I would still be in school

). When I’m not getting my ass kicked on the football field or catching up to my homework, I spend time on deviantART.
Anyway, I love to read, write, and play on my flute. I am a bit shy in real life, so writing something down does help me express myself. I am getting busier now, so it’s hard to do many things in my spare time. It does, however, keep me sane

My username is totes random

I never thought that I would love to be in such a great art commun

Q. If you could create a new gallery (or subgallery) for the site, what would you want it to be?

"I'd like to see emoticons moved out of customization. I don't know how emoticons are customized. I see it more of a type of pixel art."

"spoken word poetry. basically, it's poetry which you read out loud and that makes the emotions more vivid, the rhyme more delicious and basically, you feel the poem more. "

"Well, see, I wouldn't create just one (sub)gallery, you see. I would rearrange everything. I would take all artwork and sort it according to how it's made (digital, tradiontal, etc.) as opposed to only having certain pieces listed under there. Of course, there will always be mixed media, which needs that. But then there's things like icons and emotes which should be under pixel art as opposed to customization (you know, because they are art). Just, things like that, so that the browsing tree made more sense.

Or, we could just sort everything based on what it is (painting, picture, etc.) and focus on how it got that way later (to make it easier to find paintings of whatever, etc.)"
